How about providing a place to freely exercise dogs without a leash?

I'm not to keen on the dog park thing. I think it's to sketchy to be taking my dog to a park and have everyone give me the stink eye and would be worried about attacks. My dog is sweet with people, but a lil jumpy around other dogs at first. Go ahead and have your park, but you won't see me there. Not because I'm against it, just that I think it would be better for me and my dogs as well as you and yours.

Maui needs dog parks, like the rest of the country has. Dogs need room to run and play with other dogs.

harlow, I think if you learn about dogs, you will understand that no particular type of dog is "prone to attack" as you say. Each breed does have certain characteristics, but they are not just mean or vivous by nature. By "Fighting Breeds" I assume you mean pit bulls? They are endurance dogs and they need a lot more excerise than most owners provide. All dogs need excercise for their phsyical and MENTAL (Especially) well-being. Please don't judge a dog by its looks.

I own 4 dogs and don't think the leash law is being enforced enough or at all. To many times there are dogs loose in the park, granted they are not big dogs, but still, the law is the law. It doesn't say that a chihuahua doesn't need to leashed. The little ones are the worst. Not to mention, it's so hard to keep my dogs under control when someone elses dog is coming towards mine. As far as attacks go, well, some jail time and extra heavy fines and restitution might fix that. Won't know until something is done within the government. Have they even decided on banning plastic bags yet?

I TOTALLY agree with you Kainalu!! that happens in my neighborhood too (and in my yard). What about any public place??? The park, the beach, If you own a dog be RESPONSIBLE, follow the law. LEASH your dog and pick up its C R A P.

In my humble opinion, "Fighting Breeds" and mixes, should be be considered a liability, a strict liability. Whereby the owner recognizes that the dog is more prone to attack.

What do you think?
