Art lovers and conservationists are invited to dress in trash Friday when The Art of Trash returns Friday to Maui Mall.
Whole Foods Market is sponsoring the opening reception, beginning at 6 p.m. Presented by the nonprofits Community Work Day Program and SharingAloha, this annual event mixes whimsy with creativity, "showcasing everyday objects that have been transformed and given new life," according to a release. "Maui County artists from Hana to Napili continue to change the way the community defines recycling by finding creative ways to keep reusable items out of our landfill."
Artists of all ages think outside the box to make their contributions to the Art of Trash. The opening reception will include a trash fashion show, and Junkyard band.
