Janie Gonsalves Gusman, 91, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on March 22, 2012 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on November 10, 1920 in Paia, Maui. Janie married John Gusman in 1948 in Kahului where they resided and raised their three children. Janie and John were married for 36 years until John passed away in 1984. Janie was the cook for several years at Cupies Drive Inn before retiring at the age of 81.
Janie is survived by her daughters Patricia Weber and Veronica Texiera; her son John Gusman; 4 grandchildren, John P. Weber, Jerome Texiera, Dustin Texiera, and Alex Lima; 2 great grandchildren Joseph Weber and Emily Weber; her sister Margaret Gonsalves; several nieces and nephews; as well as many life long friends.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband John Gusman; her brothers Moses, John, and Harris Gonsalves; and her sister Mary (Gonsalves) Mederios.
Services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., with viewing for family and friends at 9:30 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, Kahului. Internment and burial at 12:00 noon at Maui Veteran's Cemetery, Makawao.
