ART ... IN VIEW

I t was all about the accessories during the Jewelry As Fashion Luncheon May 7 at the Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center. The event featured pieces from the center’s latest exhibition, “Not Just Jewelry:?History and Metal Arts Made at Kaluanui since 1922,” continuing through May 30. Models dressed in black modeled jewelry from the exhibition as well as work from the Gallery Shop. Pictured above is the grand finale that featured models with black netting wrapped around their heads ending with a bride in a long white kimono and carrying the featured piece titled “Dragon Fish” by J.B. Rea.

Darrell Hill will return to Lahaina Galleries, 828 Front St., to unveil his latest works of island scenes from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. The Kona artist uses a bold impressionist style and vivid colors to create his paintings.

Often seen painting plein air in his large straw hat and an easel at his side, Hill’s body of work includes “Island Paradise,”?“Down by the Sea,” “Island Credenza” and “Island Girl.” Spot him at the gallery — he’ll be the tall man in the large straw hat.

Spontaneous creativity and collaboration will be flowing during the grand opening of Hale Pali Ku in Haiku from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Described as “jungle vacation home,” the stunning property will set the stage for a performance art show, featuring an array of artists and musicians. The opening celebration is by invitation only.
