Chef-owner Gerard Reversade will present the Five Grapes French Wine dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday in his Gerard’s restaurant in Lahaina.
AROUND THE TOWN . . . Some may say Paia is the new Lahaina, at least in regards to Halloween, but Wailea was also happening last Saturday. Especially at Mulligans on the Blue, where owner Mike O’Dwyer danced in drag in a sexy sequined dress, big wig and stiletto heels. What gams! This week brings so many tasty events all over the island, it’s hard to pick which one to write about first. I’ll start with the Five Grapes French wine dinner coming up Saturday at Gerard’s in Lahaina. From local cheeses and micro greens to seafood bouchee or “pastry” to lamb chops with duxelle, risotto and Madeira sauce to the house-made dessert of pistachio success, it looks phenomenal, and all will pair with French wines. Owner-chef Gerard Reversade will host this evening of fine wines with fellow ex-pat Jean-Pierre Lemoine, who’s been involved in Hawaii’s French wine import market for over 25 years. “It’s cool again to be drinking French wines,” says event organizer Alan Jahns of JMD Beverage.
