OK, am I the only one who has never seen “America’s Next Top Model”? Apparently, the reality television show is big with high school students, so big that two schools’ upcoming variety shows will feature spoofs on this popular fast track into the modeling industry. Of course, poking fun at “Model” host Tyra Banks is not all these talented students will be doing — Maui kids have plenty more creative ideas with which to entertain us for an evening.

First up is “Red Carpet Madness: A Variety Show Extravaganza,” presented by the Baldwin Performing Arts Learning Center and the Baldwin Theatre Guild. Director Linda Carnevale promises original skits and spoofs, creative dances and (yikes!) audience participation competitions — all student-produced, from costumes to choreography.

Carnevale says she decided to add the new show to the year’s busy roster of performances in order to give the students one more opportunity to perform.
