Ready for Mrs. Hawaii pageant
Maui mother and businesswoman Yvienne (Tagorda) Peterson will represent Maui in a competition to become Mrs. Hawaii America at 7 p.m. Friday at the Blaisdell Center Pikake Room in Honolulu. Friday’s event is the state-level preliminary for the Mrs. America Pageant, which will take place in Tucson, Ariz., in September and will be a reality-based prime-time television special on the WE: Women’s Entertainment! Network. Peterson, wife of Gerrit Peterson and mother of Savannah, 12, Natashya, 20 months, and Sebastian, 8 months, is the owner of Preferred Business Services, LLC and a Realtor with Century 21 All Islands based in Kahului. MAKAWAO — A neuter clinic for male cats will be held Aug. 18 by 9th Life Hawaii, and while donations are needed, the service will be free for those who cannot afford to give — thanks to a $1,500 donation from an anonymous Maui resident.
