Kaupe signs contract with Mets

June 14, 2012 - Robert Collias
Baldwin High School product Branden Kaupe signed his contract with the New York Mets on Wednesday, he and his father Napa Kaupe confirmed with The Maui News.

Kaupe has been a busy young man since his first interview after being drafted in the fourth round, 140th overall.

Kaupe's pro career will begin Tuesday when he plays for the Kingsport, Tenn., Mets in their Applachian League opener at Princeton, W.Va.

Other websites have said that they had an "exclusive" interview with Kaupe, but that is simply not the case — we have been the first to report each of his steps along the professional path.

A lot of other websites have chimed in to catch up with what we reported first, among them scout.com. And the Mets blog at espn.com. And there is this from a Mets' fan site. And there's this from the Mets' website, although they misspelled "Branden" at least once that I noticed and also got Dwayne Eldredge's name wrong. There is also this from another fan site.

Whatever you read on Branden Kaupe — and please, read it all — remember you read it here first.
